Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit 9/6 at Shoreline Community College

Do you have a disability? Are you seeking employment for the first time or having a difficult time finding a job? We want to let you know about the third annual Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit, next Friday September 6th at Shoreline Community College.

This free conference is designed to assist job seekers with disabilities as they navigate the road to employment. The daylong summit us being held at Shoreline Community College on September 6th from 830 to 230. The day includes workshops, and an opportunity to connect with community resources. This free event for job-seekers, funded through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, as part of a partnership with the Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, Shoreline Community College, and the Shoreline School District. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

The "Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit" will offer opportunities to attend workshops on:

- Supported Employment
- Accommodations in the Work Place
- Job Search on the Internet
- How to Navigate Work Source
- Keeping Your Job and Adjusting to Change
- Volunteer as a Pre-Employment Experience
- Is College Right for Me?
- Secrets to a Successful Interview
- How DVR Can Help You Get a Job
- Apprenticeship as a Path to Employment

The keynote speaker will be John Evans, an expert in the field of employment for persons with disabilities. The Summit will be in the Pagoda Union Building (PUB) at Shoreline Community College, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N., in Shoreline. The event is free, but pre-registration is required.
