Do
you need help with managing your finances, preparing taxes, searching for a job
or signing up for public benefits? Come to Financial Resource Day on Saturday,
March 22nd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Rainier Community Center,
4600 38th Ave. S in Seattle.
Sponsored by the City of Seattle and the Financial Empowerment
Network/Seattle-King County, Financial Resource Day is a one-day event that combines workshops, one-on-one
counseling, and other financial services, offered by a wide array of
professional partners. The event features:
- Credit and debt counseling
- Financial planning and investment advice
- Free tax preparation
- Housing counseling
- ID theft prevention advice
- Legal assistance on bankruptcy and consumer rights
- Help with college financial aid
- Education and employment resources
- Advice on building a growing a business.
All
services are free!
Financial Resource Day also helps residents connect to many public
programs and benefits. Through a partnership with Public Health – Seattle &
King County, for instance, attendees can sign up for health care through the
Washington Health Finder network. Senior Services staff will be there to
provide information about programs that support independent living for seniors.
Staff from the Utility Discount Program will be on hand to help people
determine if they are eligible for discounts on their utility bills. ConnectUp will also be there to help people apply for phone and internet discount programs.
