Health Center Week 8/7-13

Next week, August 7-13 is National Health Center Week which recognizes the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. America's Health Centers now serve over 20 million people (including nearly 1 million people who are homeless) in 7,000 communities in all 50 states including Seattle. Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income.

Every day next week Sea Mar Community Health Centers is hosting free health fairs for National Health Center Week from 8am to 5pm at their Medical Clinic in South Seattle at 8720 14th Ave. South.

• Monday the 8th is Blood Pressure & Body Mass Index Check day with Medical consultation and individual Health Education sessions
• Tuesday the 9th is Behavioral Health and Chronic Care Day. Therapists and Chronic Care Coordinators will be speaking to patients about Mental Health/Behavioral Health and Chronic Care Health Issues
• Wednesday the 10th is Clinic Social Worker day & Managed Care support, (our Clinic Social Worker will provide community resources to patients) and Customer Service Representatives will assist with prescription needs, State Insurance info, etc...
• Thursday the 11th is Lab, Medical Consultations and Mammogram Day. Cholesterol & AccuChecks will be offered. Also Mammograms will be provided on site, this is in conjunction with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Assured Imaging Women’s Wellness of Washington and King County Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program!
• Friday the 12th is Getting Ready to go back to school Day. Free school supply donations will be provided by local retail outlets and Community Health Plan of Washington.
• And Saturday the 13th is Well-Child Checks and Immunizations Day. This is for all ages, from new-born to seniors. It is common knowledge that there is an emphasis to vaccinate children, however; there are age and gender specific vaccines throughout the life cycle.

That’s National Health Center Week, next week August 8th through 13th from 8 to 5 at The Sea Mar Seattle Medical Clinic at 8720 14th Ave. S, Seattle, 98108. For more information call Jim Arteaga at 206-764-0520 or visit healthcenterweek.org.
