America Saves Week

This week, February 25th-March 2nd, is America Saves week, so we thought we'd let you know about opportunities to save, like saving bonds.

America Saves is a national campaign involving more than 1,000 non-profit, government, and corporate groups that encourages individuals and families to save money and build personal wealth. The theme of America Saves Week 2013 is Set a Goal. Make a Plan. Save Automatically.” America Saves Week is coordinated by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council. Started in 2007, the Week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status. America saves week is a great time to explore opportunities to save such as saving for emergencies, paying off high interest debt, trimming your expenses, saving automatically, saving for retirement, or saving for a large purchase.

Here are 10 Ways to Save $100 This Week.

If you are receiving a refund from your 2012 taxes, did you know you could use part of your refund for a savings bond, even if you don't have a bank account? Savings bonds are an investment. They are low-risk bonds that grow in value for up to 30 years. While you own them they earn interest and protect you from inflation. If you are having your taxes done at any of the free tax sites across the country ask a tax preparer about savings bonds and they can help you purchase one with a portion of your refund.

Are you ready to set your savings goal and make a plan to achieve it? Take the America Saves Pledge today!
