First Step is a free one-quarter certificate program in Business Information Technology that can jumpstart your career as an office professional. This program is run collaboratively by YWCA, South Seattle College, and Seattle Jobs Initiative. Eligible graduates will receive job placement/retention and internship development assistance. The YWCA Career Pathways Program presents a free two quarter training in Medical Business Information Technology. Students will learn valuable skills and gain 198 hours of internship experience during the 2nd quarter. Course also includes resume and cover letter development, job readiness, and assistance with education and career planning. Seattle residents who meet income eligibility will be provided with tuition and books assistance, job search and retention upon completion of program. Transportation costs are also provided. WorkSource will be holding an Apprenticeship Fair with 15 different participating programs focused on areas such as Building & Construction Trades, Electrical Trades, Manufacturing & Aerospace Trades, and many more.
