Debt Collection Defense Clinic Tuesdays 1-3

Are you or someone you know Having trouble with debt collectors? Need free legal help from experienced attorneys? The Northwest Justice Project Debt Collection Defense Clinic provides free legal assistance for low-income debtors. On Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Debt Collection Defense Clinic meets in the King County Law Library. This is located on the 6th floor of the King County Courthouse in Downtown Seattle.
Assistance is restricted to specific debt issues and lawsuits related to:

 Debt collection
 Abusive Collection Practices
 Supplemental Proceedings
 Garnishment
 Medical Debts and Charity Care

The Debt Collection Defense Clinic does not assist with:

 Child support garnishment
 Bankruptcy

It’s drop-in, first come, first served every Tuesday afternoon.

They ask that you be prepared and please bring all documents about the debt or debt collection action in question including:

 Court Documents
 Letters from creditors and collectors
 Billing statements

This service is specifically for low-income individuals and families. You must qualify as low-income (below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines: $1,815/mo for one person; $3,725/mo for a family of four)  in order to receive assistance.
