Voices of Recovery Celebration Saturday 9/7

If you or someone you know are in recovery from mental illness or substance abuse I want to let you know about the 10th annual Recovery Month celebration this Saturday September 7th from 12 to 5 pm in Seattle’s central district.

A collaborative of contributors and POCAAN is sponsoring the 10th Annual Join Voices for Recovery. This year's Recovery Month theme, “Pathways to Wellness,” emphasizes that while the road to recovery may be difficult, the benefits of preventing and overcoming mental and/or substance use disorders are significant and valuable to individuals, families, and communities. The theme also highlights that people in recovery achieve healthy lifestyles, both physically and emotionally, and contribute in positive ways to their communities. They also prove to others that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover.

This day will be a multi-cultural community event for over 500 people, enhancing community connections to make treatment, supportive services and information more accessible to those that may otherwise not have resources.

They will Kick start the day with a walk for recovery honoring this year’s theme Pathways to Wellness Walk 11am, starting at 23rd & Jackson. And at 12 noon the days event will have resource tables, free food, games, entertainment, family- friendly children’s activities and free health screenings at 800 28th Avenue South from noon-5pm.
