about National HIV Testing Day, which is this Saturday, June 27th.
More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, the
virus that causes AIDS. Nearly one out of every seven people living with HIV is
unaware of their infection. There is care and life-extending treatments for
people living with HIV, but you have to know if you have HIV first. If you've
never had an HIV test, or if your last test was a while ago, I encourage you to
get one soon. HIV tests can be quick, and there are many places that offer them
for free.
To find an HIV
testing site near you, call 1-800-232-4636 or 1-800-CDC-INFO. Someone will
answer your questions and help you find a free or inexpensive place to get an
HIV test. Also, you can go to locator.aids.gov
to find the nearest HIV testing center. Just enter your zip code to find one
near you. You can also visit aids.gov for more
information about HIV and AIDS.
